We are Excited to Start another New Season! Check back for Updates! Positions available for ages 3-18
In our 23rd season, our Gems competed in many venues and arenas in New York (Long Island), New Jersey (Atlantic City, Trenton, & Lyncroft), Pennsylvania (Lancaster, Hershey, and Reading), Delaware (Riverfront) , and our favorite location - National Harbor, Maryland. Over the course of the season, our teams recieved bids to attend three end of season competitions -- "The One", "North American Spirit Tournament" & " US Finals"
Our 23rd season also introduced our new team for 3-4 year olds - Tiara Tots! These little cuties shined bright at our end of the year recital.
Competition days and weekends led to families becoming friends, along with our fundraising events together. Nights out sharing delicious pizza at Jimmy Max, playing Bingo at Oriental Plaza, and having a family-style meal at Lacey's Bridge Tavern made our parents and daughters into one big cheer family.
Columbus Day Weekend held choreography and cheerleader bonding parties, where the Senior team made gifts for the younger teams, and for the December holidays we hosted a private party where the girls expressed their creativity through a painting session.
In February we began an instagram competition that showed what each family thought our mascot should look like, posting videos of their families stunting at home (great job being a coach at home, girls!), and creating poems and inspirational thoughts about other teammates. Each participant won a SI Elite pop socket!
Families and friends also participated in our 'Love Bug' Letters where letters were written to the team and their cheerleader to show their love and support.
Staten Island Elite is not just the typical cheer program; we are a cheer family. We hope you become a part of our family in this 24th season!
2016-2017 Our 21st All Star Cheer Year!
Kicking off the season with some themed practices helps our teams to bond with some fun team activities. Both Beach theme & SIE Spirit day were a great hit! We also shared a team movie night this summer at the Atrium to see NERVE. A special spotlight moment for us when our very own coach Cathrine Bernardo was on screen 2 times during the HS pep rally scene as a cheerleader. What a stretch for her first acting role!
In September, some of the Gem families took a trip to NYC to see School of Rock on Broadway! It was a great show. Watching the bway show kids perform on stage had us reminiscing and looking forward to getting our kids on the mat this season too.
Every October is a busy month due to our annual Columbus Day 3-day weekend clinics as well as our annual Pink Out Practice for Breast Cancer Awareness. This season in support of one of our all-time loved SIE Family members, Colleen Fertitta, being a breast cancer survivor we added a fundraiser to our Pink celebration. The SIE gems collected change for 2 weeks of October & have $472 to donate to Memorial Sloan Kettering: Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center in Colleen's honor. We even changed our program logo to the color pink for the month.
We have already had some memorable moments when Coach Quinny got engaged.
We celebrated the departure of coach Alyssa when she moved to Florida to live with her mom, step dad & sister where she has already stepped into a full time teacher position. She is already on her way back this month & making a special trip to the gym to run an Amethyst practice.
Another special day for our staff was the announcement of Coach Cathrine's engagement.
Coming soon we have more GEM SPOTLIGHTS. New Competition Uniform Reveal, Dress Rehersal, Holiday Parties, Competitions, Bring a Friend night, Fundraisers, End of year Recital to celebrate our graduating Seniors & More! The 21st season is here & we couldn't be more excited!
Celebrating our 20th Anniversary at LiGrecci's Staaten in February was a very special highlight of our year. With over 200 party guests from current season, staff & graduates over the past 20 years we had an incredible time. The requests have come in for an annual reunion & we are taking it very seriously so we can see even more of our GEMS!
Our teams ranging in ages 4 years old to 18 known as the Rhinestones, Rubies, Amethyst & Diamond teams range from level 1 thru level 4 this season. We traveled to Lancaster, Penn, Atlantic City, NJ, National Harbor, Maryland & Hershey Park as well as various NJ HS based events. Based on our competition scores and placements at competitions, our teams won bids to to special year-end competitions known as THE ONE & THE FINALE by Cheer & Dance Extreme. Our Diamond team was awarded BEST PYRAMID award at the Silver Championships in Maryland in March.
The Diamond team was also chosen this year by Jade Collins-Parnell, a student at Pratt Institute, to film our team members for one of her film projects. She was hoping to create a film that goes against the stereotypes of cheerleading and actually show people that this is a sport made up of dedicated and determined girls. She attended 5 of the Staten Island Elite Cheerleaders practices where she recording the Sr level 4 Diamond team working on new skills & their routine, interacting with each other as well as interviewing the girls about their experience as a cheerleader. The film is on our home page for you to watch.
We had special practices/theme nights:
