icon04/07/2010 - Frequently Asked Questions

When are tryouts? How old can we start cheering?
Tryouts are at the beginning of May. We have teams for 4 years old & up.

Do I need experience in cheerleading or gymnastics to make a team?
No! Although it's beneficial to have experience, it is not a requirement. Our staff will train you to make you cheer up to your potential!

Where & when do we practice?
Victory Gymnastics Center 3575 Victory Blvd. is our home gym. Practices are usually 5pm & later except during the summer months where they can begin as early as 1pm. Our season begins with tryouts in May & we practice 2-3 times a week year round until the end of the following April. Practice includes all of the cheer routine elements + tumbling lessons.

What should I wear to tryouts/practice?
Please wear shorts & tank top or bodysuit for tumbling so you can be safe & properly spotted. Please do not wear attire with sharp edged details. Also wear socks, sneakers and be sure to bring a drink with you. No jewelry or long fingernails please! Hair must be up out of eyes & off shoulders.

Who do we give tuition payments & other fees to?
Your monthly tuition & the annual registration & insurance fees are payable to SI Elite Cheerleaders. Please hand in all SIE payments to Colleen Fertitta at our front desk. Camp, Uniform, Fundraisers, trips, etc. are payable to SIE Booster Club. Please include name on envelope & what the check is for in the memo. Please include cheerleaders last name in memo if check is being drawn from a different last name.

What do we do if we miss practice for summer vacations?
Everyone needs a break! We understand each family takes a week or two in the summer to get away from things. Please give us your dates ASAP so we can plan our practices appropriately. We try our best not to schedule clinics and camps when girls are away but we can't take you into consideration if we don't know. If you go away more than 2 weeks during the summer it is important to talk to the Director immediately.

When do we start competing?
Each of the Elite squads is on its own schedule, when the director/staff feel the team is ready - the competition schedule is announced. In the past, we have begun performing as early as December but no later than the beginning of February.

Where do we perform/compete?
We do not have set competitions. Older teams do travel more than the younger teams.
We have competed at a variety of places including Md, Va, Fla, NY, NJ, Philly, and Ct.

What kind of fundraisers do we run?
Pampered Chef, Avon, Tupperware, Note cards, raffle tickets, chocolates...just about anything... The money your daughter raises is placed in a special account toward her competition entry fees.

icon04/19/2009 - 2008-2009 Cheer Season

A  great season as always! The July 4th parade was great I must say that I haven't marched in a parade in 45 years ,but I couldn't have picked a better bunch of walkers if I tried. We started off the season with a bang with many new girls with very few skills and have progressed into a program to be proud of, all of the girls who competed with injuries and illnesses are true team players.

Our parent corps is the best we have ever had and an honor to be associated with. Flora and I have great fun with them and enjoy watching them act like kids at a ball park. The competitions, Well some wins some losses sometimes it goes that way but that's sports Great year guys lets do it again!   -- Big Bob
